Plan a Storyboard - Make sure that it is clear and in order of what you want your scene to look like. This is so that you understand each step of the scene and what is happening. It is also important to have good detailed writing under the picture just in case it is not very clear.
Plan a Script - This is make sure that everyone who is acting in the scene knows what they are saying and when because the timings should be written on. This may also include actions of what the actors are doing.
Use a Tri-Pod - This is so that all your shots are no tilted so that is looks more professional.
Appropriate Costume/Casting - This is important so that people understand the mise-en-scene. If you are making horror you will want a blood covered hidden killer in dark clothes instead of a colorful outfit with a character smiling.
Dont's
De-face Grave Stones - If filming grave stones then you do not want to get rid of the writing on the graves. If you do it takes the effect of horror away from the show and makes it look less realistic.
Look at the camera - If you look into the camera while filming then it gives a sense to the audience that the character knows they are being watched in a film which is true but does not give a good horror affect.
Film the wrong way round - If you have the camera the wrong way round when you film then the scene will come on the computer scene upside down. Although you could turn the picture around it would take a lot of unnecessary effort and time.
Continuity Errors - This is important in filming as if these errors are made then the audience can become confused. For example some of these errors include wrong positioning or magical appearing objects.
Us as a class for a lesson, sat down all together and watched around 5 clips of there OTS from previous people who have done AS media at Churchdown school . We picked out what was good, bad and what we can do better in our class' opening title sequences!
We did some practice filming for our research (10 horror shots and prelim task) in which we came to the conclusion as a class that we should do the things in green , and not do others witch are in red.
The do's will make our crimson webb OTS have a better effect on the audience by making them understand better whats going on in the OTS and the storyline. If we do not follow these do's and don'ts then our OTS may not look as good.
