Google Trends is based off Google's popular search terms, you can search across regions or worldwide. After 2008 the interest of Supernatural Horror dropped quite dramatically where it stayed that way until 2009 where Supernatural Horror started to make a gradual comeback. Up until 2010 where that part of the Supernatural Horrors had a huge drop in the interest. But it was only for a year as in 2011 the film genre then regained any interest it may have lost back then. The Supernatural Horror film genre never then dropped to the bottom of interest rates again. There were many good Supernatural Horrors such as Paranormal Activity. The interest of Supernatural Horror has been going up and down for so long. That people actually expect a Supernatural Horror film to have Demonic Possessions, Ghosts and Spirits. Some people don't expect to see comedy in a horror film unless it makes the horror good which there hasn't been a real good example of a Comedy Supernatural Horror.
When Poltergeist was filmed in 1982 it went into cinemas the same year, grossed $76,606,280. This film gave many expectations for other Supernatural Horrors that were to follow. There are many different types of supernatural beings some scary and some that just represent good and happiness. One of these horrible supernatural beings is known as as the Wendigo. Famous Author Charlie Higson wrote books about Zombies which is known as, The Enemy it is the first book in the series of post apocalyptic horror. Where kids are trying to survive from what they refer to as the "grown ups." Unlike normal zombie infections that infect every age, the infection targets anyone over the age of 14.

The Sixth Sense is a 1999 American supernatural horror the film was written and directed by M. Night Shymalan which stars: Bruce Willis, Hayley Joel Osment, Toni Collette, Olivia Williams, Donnie Wahlberg, Glenn Fitzgerald, Mischa Barton, Trevor Morgan, Bruce Norris, Angelica Page, Gregg Wood, M. Night Shymalan, Peter Tambakis and Jeffery Zubernis. In its opening weekend it grossed around a total of 26.6 million dollars. it got reviews from Rotten Tomatoes which was 7.6/10 and from Metacritic which gave the film a 64/100.
The Exorcist
The Exorcist is a 1973 American Supernatural Horror this film is directed by William Friedkin, adapted by William Peter Blatty's novel from 1971. the book by William Peter Blatty was inspired by the Exorcism in 1949 of Ronald Doe, deals with a mother who has a demonic possessed 12 year old daughter. The film itself earned $66.3 Million in distributors' domestic (which was only in the US and Canada) during its release in 1974. Its lifetime gross in theatre was $232,906,145. At the time The Exorcist was released it got 4 out of 4 stars. The cast of The Exorcist was: Linda Blair (Regan), Jason Miller (Father Karras), Ellen Burstyn (Chris MacNeil) and Mercedes McCambridge (Demon(Voice)). There are more but these were really the main cast members.
What Lies Beneath
What Lies Beneath is a 2000 psychological-thriller horror directed by Robert Zemeckis. It stars Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer, as a well-to-do couple who experience a strange haunting within their house which cause Michelle Pfeiffer to find out what the cause of it is. This film went to 2,813 theaters in North America it grossed a grand total of $291,402,351. When it first came to theaters it made a total of $29,702,959 but its lifetime revenue was $155,464,351 and that was in 2,925 theaters in the end.
The Blair Witch Project
The Blair Witch Project was filmed in 1999 as a "found footage" horror film which was written, directed and edited by Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick and was produced by Haxan Films. Won an award for being the biggest disappointment as nominated by Stinkers Bad Movie Awards. The actress Heather Donahue won the award for worst actress. The actors in this film were Heather Donahue, Michael C. Williams and Joshua Leonard. In its opening weekend it made $1,512,054 in 27 theaters while its lifetime gross made $140,539,099 in 2,538 theaters.
The Conjuring
Released on 2nd of August 2013 The Conjuring was directed by James Wan. The film is 1 hour and 52 minutes long and made a gross profit of $318 million. This film is based off true events that have been slightly twisted into a more horror effect. The film is based in the 1971 where paranormal investigators and demonologists are invited to a house in Rhode Island. The farm house is own by a new family and they have discovered paranormal activities. They learn that the house has a bad history and horror events occur haunting the family.

The Ring
Released to cinemas on 18th October 2002 as an American supernatural psychological horror film the Ring was a remake of a Japanese horror film called 'Ring' which was earlier released in 1998. The Ring was directed by Gore Verbinski and stared Naomi Watts. The film had a production budget of $48 million and made a gross profit of $249 million. Overall the critics reviews on the film were positive due to visuals over gore, the directions over the screenplay and reliance on dread. The problem that the critics did not like were the character development through the film. As the film had good reviews and made one of the highest gross profits of horror films of all time two more were produced. These were 'The Ring Two' which was released in 2005 and 'Ring' which was released in 2016. The Ring is a very important film to horror history as it was one of the first American remakes of a Japanese horror film. This then encouraged other American film makers to redevelop and remake Japanese horror films. Some of these films are 'Dark Waters', 'Pulse', 'One Missed Call' and 'The Grudge'.

The Grudge was originally a Japanese horror film called 'Ju-No: The Grudge' adapted and remade by American producers. It was directed by Takashi Shimizu who was the director for all of the Japanese 'Ju-No' films. It was produced by Sam Raimi and scripted by Stephen Susco. The film was released to the cinemas in North America on the 22nd of October 2004 by Columbia Pictures. The plot of the film is told through a non-linear sequence and includes several different sub plots within. The film was great success over box office and with only a $10 million it made a gross profit of over $187 million. Due to heavy success there were two move films released. These were 'The Grudge 2' which was released on the 13th of October 2006 and 'The Grudge 3' which was released on the 12th of May 2009.

During it's opening weekend $52,568,183 which was only shown in 3,321 theatres, when it first opened at midnight of October 21 2011 it made $8,000,000 and on its opening day it made $26.2 million. It received 68% on Rotten Tomatoes from critic reviews. It had done much better than its predecessors. after its opening weekend it stayed in 3,329 theatres and made $104,028,807.
Paranormal Activity 3 is a 2011 supernatural film, and like its 2 predecessors it is a "found-footage" film. This film was directed by Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost. It is set before the first two films, 18 years to be precise, so it is considered a prequel. The film performed even better than the two films before it; grossing $8 million dollars from just midnight showings alone. The film again broke records on its release gaining the most money on an opening day of a horror film - (in the United States), being $26.2 million.

The Others a 2001 Spanish-American Supernatural Horror which also goes under the name of its Spanish translation Los Otros. it was filmed, directed and scored by Alejandro Amenábar the film itself won 8 goya awards two of which include Best Film and Best Director. The film starred: Nicole Kidman, Alakina Mann, James Bentley, Fionnula Flanagan, Eric Sykes, Elaine Cassidy. The story is about a devout Roman Catholic who lives with two small children in an immediate aftermath from World War II the children have a uncommon disease which causes them to be fragile in sunlight when three servants turn up supernatural things start to happen making the main character think they are not alone. This movie made in its opening weekend $14,089,952 in 1,678 theatres, during its time in the theatres it made $96,522,687 which was in 2,843 theatres in US. Worldwide it made $209.9 million
